During the state of health emergency, the procedure to benefit from specific CROUS aid is simplified. Students, scholarship holders or not, who request it can receive an advance payment of up to € 500.
Since April 24, 2020, due to the health crisis, all students who request it can access specific emergency aid in a simplified manner . This is explained by a circular from the Ministry of Higher Education intended for CROUS (regional centers of university and school works) and academic rectors. Concretely, the beneficiary students will be able to receive an advance payment of their aid in the amount of 500 € maximum.
Specific emergency aid is not new. Throughout the year, students who feel they are in financial difficulty can benefit from it. You just need to be a student, scholarship holder or not, in initial training. The request is made to the CROUS of his academy. Once your file has been established, a commission is responsible for assessing the amount of aid to be allocated.
This is precisely what changes during the health crisis. To respond more quickly to students, CROUS can adapt their procedure. Instead of meeting in committee once a week, CROUS social workers examine your file and talk to you by phone if necessary to be able to pay you early help . This amount can be up to € 500 maximum , and no longer € 200 as was the case outside the health crisis.
This procedure is valid throughout the confinement period and even up to four months after the end of the state of health emergency. Depending on your situation, the amount of aid may amount to € 1,687 , which corresponds to the first level of scholarships based on social criteria .
This aid remains cumulative with other aid granted by the CROUS such as grants, aid for international mobility or merit aid.
If you have questions to make your request, a number is available from Monday to Friday (0 906 000 278) .
